06 10 2009 - TOREX LEADING THE WAY IN SECURITY STANDARD COMPLIANCE

Torex amongst first to market in Europe with PA DSS compliant POS

DUNSTABLE, U.K. – 6th October, 2009 - Torex Retail Holdings Limited (Torex™), the leading global provider of innovative, integrated technology solutions to the extended retail marketplace, today announces that Torex™ Retail POS solution is the first POS system with integrated EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) to offer compliance with the latest PCI Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA DSS V1.2).

Torex continues its lead in ensuring that the Torex Retail POS product meets the exacting criteria of the PA DSS. By providing compliant development methods, security techniques and consultancy, Torex will guide its clients in conforming to PA DSS V1.2 regulations and help protect their customers’ payment card information.

PA DSS V1.2 acceptance by the PCI Council assures retailers that the payment application encrypts Personal Account Numbers whilst also ensuring it does not store prohibited data, such as full magnetic stripes, CVV2 or PIN data. PA DSS V1.2 compliance is a critical step towards PCI DSS, a broader set of comprehensive requirements for enhancing payment account data security, as the retailer’s overall company compliance cannot be granted without this.

Many retailers are starting their compliance projects well ahead of the deadlines (July 31st 2010 for the US, July 21st 2012 for Europe), with some commencing immediately. Torex’ proactive approach in ensuring its products adhere to the standards gives retailers maximum time in which to plan their compliance programmes and provides the assurance that their customers’ data is secure.
Doug Hargrove, Chief Marketing Officer, Torex, commented: “It’s widely known that the industry is struggling to get to grips with the standards, which is why we’ve invested heavily in ensuring our software is compliant as early as possible. Retailers have enough on their plate with the current tough trading conditions, so they need a partner who can take them painlessly through the process. We have the experience and the software to do just that.”

In addition to its proprietary EFT solution, Retail POS also interfaces to over 40 international 3rd party EFT solutions using its unique “EFTLINK” service. By voluntarily developing its package to achieve PABP compliance last year, and continuing to maintain compliance as the standards evolve, Torex customers will always have access to the most current products and consultancy on the very latest regulations.
